“I thought the earth remembered me,

she took me back so tenderly,

arranging her dark skirts, her pockets

full of lichens and seeds.

I slept as never before, a stone on the river bed,

nothing between me and the white fire of the stars

but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths

among the branches of the perfect trees.

All night I heard the small kingdoms

breathing around me, the insects,

and the birds who do their work in the darkness.

All night I rose and fell, as if in water,

grappling with a luminous doom. By morning

I had vanished at least a dozen times

into something better.”

Creating farewell flowers is a meaningful part of our work, which we approach in a thoughtful, personal and environmentally kind way.

Rather than choosing from an impersonal catalogue, our designs are guided by you. When you get in touch, we'll ask a little about your loved one — their favourite colours, the flowers they loved (or hated!), or something from nature that was special to them. This will then inform the design.

All the flowers we use are grown in community gardens across South Devon, meaning every tribute is unique and reflects the beauty of the season. Whether you're looking for a casket spray, a living wreath or a simple sheaf, all arrangements are created using sustainable, foam-free techniques so they return gently to the earth.

Funeral tributes can be collected from us in Totnes or dropped off directly with your funeral director. To get started, please email hello@flourishdevon.co.uk with the funeral date and what you have in mind.
